WRCC Elects New Chair and Vice-Chair
At its first meeting following the AGM in January, WRCC’s Board of Trustees has elected Rosie Weaver as the new Chairperson, succeeding Cllr Colin Parrott, who served in the role for the past two years. Geoff Prince was elected as Vice-Chairperson.
Rosie Weaver, known for her community work in Meriden and as Chair of the Warwickshire Association of Local Councils, brings extensive experience from the statutory and third sectors, including the NHS. She has also served as Chair of a Housing Association and Meriden Sports Park.
Awarded the British Empire Medal in 2016, Rosie is passionate about addressing community challenges. She said, “I’m excited to become the Chair of WRCC and looking forward to working with the team to make sure that our services reach those people and places where they are most needed. I am keen to use my knowledge of the local health and social care system to support the current growth ambition for our Community Food Fleet – the county’s Meals on Wheels service.”
Geoff Prince, with a background in town and country planning, has worked internationally and nationally, including roles with the Ministry of Defence. He is the director of a small specialist planning consultancy based in South Warwickshire and is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the International Society of City and Regional Planners.
Commenting on his appointment, Geoff stated, “It is important that we can promote the community voice in the planning process, and I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to support the work of WRCC, particularly our Rural Housing Enabler work, seeking to secure more affordable homes as part of future developments for people countywide.”
The trustees and Senior Leadership Team thank Cllr Colin Parrott for his contributions. He will remain a trustee and continue supporting WRCC’s goals.
